Research Strategy
Given its ambitious research agenda, McFam has created a culture of research within the university.
It seeks to carve and achieve academic excellence through research, scholarship and creative activity.
Goals
The research goals of McFam are as follows.
- To help produce research and generate creative activities by encouraging research proposals from faculty and students;
- To augment researcher competitiveness by providing seed funding for early-stage research projects;
- To link research initiatives to the university mission;
- To encourage submission of highly competitive proposals for external funding;
- To nurture and reward the most promising researchers for the citations of their works in scholarly journals;
- To develop McFam’s research strengths around strategic priorities, and
- To create an impact on all sections of society through knowledge creation and transfer.
In order to implement its research strategy effectively, McFam has created a matching infrastructure as follows.
Research Infrastructure at MAGScholar to Facilitate Strategy Deployment
Scientific research is a core function of McFam. The university, through MAGScholar, has created a sound infrastructure for research and publishing in recent years. It has been making unfailing efforts since its establishment to respond to the research and knowledge development needs of its constituencies in all parts of the world. The research portfolio of MAGScholar researchers can be found in the conference proceedings and journal publications, Asian Journal of Business Research, and Journal of Halal Service Research.
A milestone in the area of scientific research endeavours of MAGScholar has been the launch of 2 scholarly journals The journals provide a great opportunity for the McFam faculty and students to learn and practice the art and science of publishing in scholarly journals. Eminent scholars placed overseas serve as editors-in-chief. The editorial boards also include scholars of eminence from all parts of the world.
MAGScholar publishes books, working paper series, occasional papers and case studies focusing on issues of strategic relevance to the Asia Pacific region. Collaborative research is also among the main areas of focus. Other research initiatives include soliciting research grants, applying for research awards, establishing Research Chairs, and launching regional research awards. These initiatives are meant to support outstanding research, scholarship and research leadership of McFam within the region.
- Distinguished Visiting Professor (DVP) Program
Knowledge dissemination is the main purpose of the Distinguished Visiting Professor program. McFam looks for opportunities to learn and gain cutting- edge insights from experts and gurus from all parts of the world. Research-oriented students will have the opportunity to interact after with the DVPs and learn useful ideas and research methodologies.
Participants in the training program will have opportunities to discuss their research with the DVPs and get useful guidance. They will also have the opportunity to contribute to the Working Paper Series published by McFam and actively participate in the research networks established through the consortium arrangement.
- The Asia-Pacific Center of Case Research and Development
The Asia-Pacific Centre for Case Research and Development has been established by McFam in collaboration with the Case Centre, UK to create and contextualize knowledge. It seeks to create and disseminate knowledge through case research and teaching, thus facilitating the process of problem-solving in all sectors of the economies of Asia-Pacific countries.
- The McFam University Press
The McFam University Press is a global publishing company. Its main goal is to create and disseminate knowledge and support learner acquisition of internationally recognized publications in English, Chinese, Arabic and other languages based on demand. It provides great opportunities for students and the faculty to publish their research output.
- The MAGScholar Conference
MAGScholar organizes an annual scientific conference. This conference attracts scholars, practitioners and policymakers from various parts of the world. This conference is an outstanding manifestation of McFam’s commitment to create and disseminate useful knowledge throughout the world.
Cooperative Arrangements
In its quest for achieving its mission and key objectives, McFam has always believed in the concept of mutually-beneficial partnerships and collaboration in research and scholarly activities. The university has cooperative arrangements with many eminent institutions including ICDE, Open University, UK and Romanian American University, Universal Business School, India, and MASS-CLIMB, India.
The university also has a very large network of subject matter experts and faculty from several countries for creating and sharing knowledge.
Students have the opportunities to gain insights from faculties currently attached to universities in: Austria, Australia, Brazil, Hungary, Indonesia, India, Laos, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Sudan, Thailand, UK, UEA, Thailand, and Vietnam.
