McFam’s smart campus includes a web portal designed specifically for learners and faculty. The campus provides a one-stop-shop for all their needs. It is seamlessly integrated with all other applications. It includes easy access to everything that a learner or faculty needs: accessing course materials, joining a virtual classroom, viewing records, registering for courses, advising, paying online, searching and accessing online resources, etc. This is in addition to the enablement of social communication and collaboration among all community members through blogs, wikis, discussion forms, groups, chat, shouts, announcements, etc. It enables the creation of e-portfolios for learners and faculty.

Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

The VLE holds all the learning platforms in a unified and integrated manner that allows users (learners, faculty and staff) gain access to an environment through which the learning process takes place.

Assignments Drop Box

Faculty members can create online assignments which have space for learners to submit their work, and faculty can provide learners with immediate feedback. The assignment module is also integrated with the plagiarism detection tool, which faculty can also use to filter the assignments submitted by learners and confirm the authenticity of the assignment’s content.

Online Assessment

Faculty can create online quizzes and tests to assess learners’ progress throughout the course work.

Virtual Classroom (VC)

Synchronous real-time classes are conducted through this application where instructors and learners interact.

Click to Talk and Click to Meet

Click-to-Talk (CTT) application allows web users to talk through their PC to agents or other voice network users. This application offers learners the opportunity to contact administrators, academic advisors, faculty members and other staff within the university without having to pay for phone calls.

Media site

Media site is a technology that allows the university to web cast, record and archive physical classes over the web.

Plagiarism detection tools

Over the past few years, the growth of the Internet has led to an increase in the extent of plagiarism and academic misconduct in higher education. McFam uses Turnitin which is an effective tool to assist in the detection of plagiarism.

e-Library

The McFam e-Library is the central point for learning resources. The e-library has been built to provide various users with easy access to electronic books, journals, articles, databases, etc. In order to support the learning experience, the university also provides access to a vast collection of learning resources and research materials.

e-CAPS (Electronic Career Counseling and Placement Services)

e-CAPS is a web-based application developed to support learners’ career counseling and placement services. The primary aim of e-CAPS is to bridge the gap between learners and alumni and the professional world by providing them with a wide range of career-related guidance, resources and services.

Staff Portal

This is a web-based portal for staff and faculty that allows for single point of access to a variety of internal information, collaborative environments, and university systems.

Video Conferencing Solution

There is a video conferencing solution which allows connecting to other ISDN or IP Based, standards compliant Video Conferencing solutions. The video conferencing solution is also used during the conferences and events organized by the university.

Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Our VPN allows staff to be able to connect to the university network over secure channels, allowing them to work remotely but having the same connectivity as they would when physically in the office.
